TEXT: HEB. 11: 1-40
MAIN VERSE: “Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.” Heb. 11:1
INTRODUCTION: Faith is indispensable element in our fellowship with God. It is the anchor that holds our relationship with God, the staying power that keeps us both in good and bad times. Faith is a catalyst and, of course, the trigger that once released the enemy is subdued.
In other words, believing the scriptures as the actual word of God is an attestation of our faith in God. Our faith in God is a revelation of our confidence in his ability to do those things we request of him. Faith is the revelation of sovereignty of the almighty God over all creation through man.
“…have faith in God. For verily I say unto you that whosoever shall say to mountains be thou removed and be thou cast into the sea, and shall not doubt in his heart but shall believe that those things which he said shall come to pass; he shall have what he said Mark 11:22, 23.Faith is both offensive and defensive weapon of our warfare as Christians; if our faith is wrecked we are doomed, it is faith that brings about the beauty of our salvation.
WHAT IS FAITH?
To have faith simply means to keep our covenant with God; it means to follow through irrespective of what we see with our eyes or what we feel with our senses .Faith is that energy that spurs us up for action. It is the winning power or the winning mentality. We can do absolutely nothing without faith. What then is faith? “Faith is the expression of the invisible creator (God) to man as he really is in character, ability and capacity.”
The scripture says that “…faith is the substance of things hoped for; the evidence of things not seen.” This reveals the tangibility of faith. Faith can be seen as reality through the works of faith. It is not imagination.
